Like the people in these films, my friend didn’t suddenly move to some amazing penthouse on Fifth Avenue; instead, he moved to a slightly bigger place in Brooklyn. Because that’s the way these things actually go in real life—as we mature and become increasingly successful, we move to progressively nicer places. I love that Zillow is true to this reality; there’s no suggestion in this campaign that Zillow helps people live out their Cinderella story and trade a dump for a castle. Rather, it shows how Zillow helps people trade their nice place for a slightly nicer one; it helps them find a house with an extra bedroom or an apartment with more closet space. Zillow isn’t magic. It’s just amazingly helpful technology.
