For, ‘X’ we want to be beautifully paced and contemplative as we move rapidly between the lingering landscapes and into tight shots of the car performing. Feeling like we’re almost lost in the wild, but confidently assured these vehicles will get us through them and where we want to go. To help heighten the feeling of power and control here we’ll create a strong contrast. With the wide opens shots of nature being nearly silent, and as we cut into the close ups of the car performing, have our ears dominated by its powerful sounds. The drastic differences we’ll hear in the car’s roaring performance and nature’s quiet whisper will really help bring this one to life.
‘X’ is a slower intimate portrait, and like we said on the call, cinematic by small moments and in the details we design. Our edit will be about finding the best shots to create the literal and symbolic reflections of our story that we can read in a first impression, but also consider in a deeper way after we’ve left the frame. I also like your ideas about building a contemplative track for each that eventually breaks out (sort of how our edit will work) and lets it feel like there’s a quiet power released when we’re behind the wheels of these cars.
