CASTING & PERFORMANCE
No matter how much time, effort or money we invest into making this film, it’s going to be a dud unless we get the right kids to play Callum and Olivia. We’re after fresh, unspoiled talent, rather than kids who’ve gone to acting class their whole lives and have become too comfortable with “technique”. We need kids who once cast, can bring their own experiences, ideas and spontaneity to the rehearsals and dialogue. True collaborators.
Finding the right actors will bring our characters to life and add depth to them in a way that no writer can achieve by sitting in a room by themselves. Whoever plays Callum will need to be able to express his nervousness through body language (without being over the top), as well as feigning confidence in front of Olivia. Meanwhile, Olivia should be outspoken and confident, but in a way that is laid-back and charming. We’re not looking for the stereotypical bossy girl.
