LOOK AND FEEL
Prism Libre’s sexiness will come as much from the implied as from the explicit – what we can project and imagine but do not see. This demands restraint in camera movement, subtlety in lighting and perfor-mance. The close-ups and beauty shots I’ll capture on a superfast portrait lens with incredibly shallow depth of field that will grant a delicacy to the most intimate shots. It’s a delicacy I’ll employ throughout, from our pastel color palette to our camera moves. I’ll shoot at 30fps for 25fps playback so that every movement, every tracking shot – literally everything in and of the frame – will feel smoother and lighter, even as the action slows imperceptibly.
I’ll approach this film as something of a post-production assembly, shooting each element “clean” and then wedding the materials subsequently. Though I generally relish achieving as much as is possible in-camera, in this instance, the soft colored powder poses too many production problems, delaying the shoot with clean up, hair and make up concerns, and generally compromising what I believe is the film’s central focus: ensuring that the model looks as sexy, beautiful, compelling, and enthralling as is possible in each and every vignette.
